SRS is the consultant to the former owner/operator responsible for the investigation and remediation of gasoline, diesel, and fuel oxygenates in soil and groundwater resulting from a leaking underground storage tank release into a salmon-bearing stream.
- A rotary drill rig and mobile laboratory services were used to quickly delineate the extent of the dissolved fuel oxygenate plume.
- Due to the challenging site conditions of highly permeable soils, thin aquifer, rapid groundwater velocity and space limitations, SRS-LACO selected an ISCO remedial design using ozone injected beneath source areas using micro-porous sparge wells.
- Within 2 months of bringing the system online, concentrations of MtBE in the spring water was reduced 99%.
- An in-situ chemical oxidation remedial system was installed in 2005 to destroy the remaining fuel oxygenate and petroleum hydrocarbon source and prevent the discharge of dissolved constituents from the site. This remediation project was implemented under the State of California's Pay-For-Performance Program and has reached milestone targets ahead of schedule.
